Jaya Basu moved from Calcutta, India to the US in 1995, with her family, carrying no more than a few packed bags. While she decided to stay home to raise her children, her entrepreneurial husband went on to start a company. Even after staying away from her motherland for decades, she never forgot the crisis children go through in rural areas of her state of West Bengal. Her passion to change in society, her zeal to make the world a better place, and above all, her unwavering love for her community that brought her up resulted in the birth of Promise Worldwide.
